The 2018 Summer in the Park Committee is truly excited about all of the big changes in store for this year’s festival!
In December of 2017 the Summer in the Park Committee announced it will be moving the festival location to Thomson Park and Memorial Gardens Arena. All activities will be hosted in Thomson Park with the exception of the headline musical entertainment which will be taking place indoors at Memorial Gardens Arena. In the past the festival has struggled with poor weather resulting in the cancellation of numerous musical acts. This move will be very beneficial to the success of the festival.
Summer in the Park 2017 was a great success and the Committee is planning on growing the 2018 festival on last year’s successes. Headline musical entertainment in 2017 featured Marianas Trench, Headstones, MAGIC!, Michelle Treacy and the Darenots. As well, the Grand Slam Beach Volleyball Tournament, Million Dollar Hole-in-One and the World’s Finest Shows Midway returned to the festival weekend drawing thousands of observers and participants. The free to the public component will continue to offer the ever popular activities such as inflatable land, cultural programming, interactive reptile shows, children’s entertainers, button making, face painting, military displays, community groups, food & product vendors and more!
In partnership with the Festival, The Downtown Improvement Area will once again be hosting their large Free-For-All weekend as well. Given the benefit this festival provides to our community through economic and tourism stimulus and community pride, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.
